When I was 3 years old, my mom gave me a blank sketchbook and some crayons. I've been drawing ever since. My dad is a machinist and taught me how to use many types of tools and machines. My art is a combination of creativity and craftsmanship.
I became more serious about art while attending Harding University. There I learned other forms of expression including painting, ceramics, and stone carving. During my senior year, I began painting murals in a nursing home. I moved back to Shreveport, Louisiana in 2005 and had my first solo exhibit in January, 2006.
I specialize in a type of mural painting called trompe l'oeil (fools the eye). I've always been fascinated with the concept of creating a 3-dimensional image on a flat surfce. Much of my art, especially my murals, reflect this theme.
In February, 2006, I took several classes in faux finishing and I'm currently taking commissions. In August, 2006, I completed a mural at A Stone's Throw Café. I also began teaching with the Talented Arts Program (TAP) in the fall of 2007.
